CURRICULUM

SMAW PLATE (STICK) Introduction to Shielded Metal Arc Welding.

This course covers and follows fundamentals, safety, and principles of the SMAW welding process to ISO standards and regulations. You will learn proper PPE, basics in material preparation/Fit-up, welding techniques, welding positions, electrode selection, welding code acceptance criteria. Welding positions will include: 1F-1G (Flat), 2F-2G (Horizontal), 3F-3G (Vertical) & 4F-4G (Overhead) both in Fillet and Groove weld. Both 6010 and 7018 Rods will be used on welding process. Student’s welding specimens will be mechanically evaluated for qualification to ASME Section 9 code standards and AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code acceptance criteria. Students will also be evaluated in lecture educational knowledge for fulfillment of Lab/class hours. Upon completion of this course students will receive a certificate of proficiency in introduction to SMAW (Stick) on plate. Students will also be capable of performing general entry-level assembly and maintenance welding in fabrication shop and tank or vessel welding.

SMAW PIPE (STICK) Advanced to Shield Metal Arc Welding

This course covers advanced techniques, safety, and education in SMAW welding process to ISO standards. You will learn proper PPE fit-up & preparation of material, electrode weld angle & position, welding techniques and welding code criteria & regulations. Welding positions will include: 1G (Rotated pipe), 2G (Horizontal weld), 5G (fixed position pipe) and 6G (pipe at 45-degree upright angle) welded with correspondent vending electrodes. Both 6010 and 7018 Rods will be used on welding process. Student’s 6G position pipe position welding specimens will be mechanically tested to ASME Section 9 code standards and ASME B31.3 (Standard Pipe Construction code) acceptance criteria. Students will also be tested in lecture educational knowledge for fulfillment of Lab/Class hours. Upon completion of this course students will receive a certificate of proficiency in SMAW (Stick) on pipe. Students will also be capable of performing good quality sound pipe welds in industrial plants, fabrications shop and more.

INTRO GTAW PLATE (HELLIARC) Introduction to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.

This course covers fundamentals, safety, and principles in GTAW welding process to ISO welding standards. You will learn proper PPE, fit-up & preparation of material, filler metal selection, welding position, welding techniques and welding code criteria and regulations. Welding positions will include 1F-1G (Flat), 2F-2G (Horizontal), 3F-3G (Vertical) and 4F-4G (Overhead) both in Fillet and Groove. Student’s welding specimens will be mechanically tested for qualification to ASME section 9 standards and AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code VT acceptance criteria. Students will also be assessed in lecture educational knowledge for fulfillment towards Lab/Class hours. Upon completion of this course student will receive a certificate of proficiency in introduction to GTAW (TIG) on Plate. Students will also be capable of performing excellent quality sound structural welds, supports, tack welds, fabricate general things (Ex.; Fabrication tables, structural support frames, steel porch, etc.),  and work in fabrication shops.

COMBO WELDER (STICK/HELLIARC) Advanced Pipe Combination Welder

This course will cover the Petro-Chemical industry’s most common field pipe welding processes for you to become the next professional and competent welder. You will learn the basics of Safety, Fundamentals, and Principles of the Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) & Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) welding processes to ISO standards. With this you will learn proper PPE, filler metal & electrode sizing and selection, welding electrode/filler metal positioning, Welding techniques and welding code criteria and regulations. Welding pipe positions include 1G (Rotated pipe), 2Gp (Horizontal weld), 5G (fixed position pipe) and 6G (pipe @ 45-degree upright angle) welded with corresponding filler metal/electrode. Both 6010 and 7018 Rods Will be use don welding process, as well as ER70S-2 and ER70S-6. Student’s 6G position pipe position welding specimens will be mechanically tested to ASME Section 9 code standards and ASME B31.3 (Standard Pipe Construction code) VT acceptance criteria. Students will also be tested in lecture educational knowledge for fulfillment of Lab/Class hours. Upon completion of this course students will receive a certificate of proficiency in Combination Pipe Welding with GTAW (TIG or Helliarc) & SMAW (Stick). Students will also be capable of performing good quality sound pipe welds in manufacturing, industrial plants, fabrications shop and more.

GTAW PIPE (HELLIARC) Advance to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding

This course covers advanced techniques, safety and education in GTAW welding process to ISO standards. You will learn proper PPE fit-up & preparation of material, filler metal selection & position, welding techniques and welding code criteria & regulations. Welding pipe positions will include: 1G (Rotated pipe), 2G (Horizontal weld), 5G (fixed position pipe) and 6G (pipe @ 45-degree upright angle) welded with corresponding filler metal. Both ER70S-2 and ER70S-6 tig wire will be use don welding process. Student’s 6G position pipe position welding specimens will be mechanically tested to ASME Section 9 code standards and ASME B31.3 (Standard Pipe Construction code) VT acceptance criteria. Students will also be tested in lecture educational knowledge for fulfillment of Lab/Class hours. Upon completion of this course students will receive a certificate of proficiency in GTAW (TIG or Helliarc) on Pipe. Students will also be capable of performing good quality sound pipe welds in industrial plants, fabrications shop and more.

 STAINLESS SS Introduction to Specialty welding in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)

This Course will cover Stainless Steel pipe welding for the preparation of Specialty alloy welders. You will learn the basics of Safety, Fundamentals, and Principles of the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) welding processes to ISO standards. With this you will learn proper PPE, filler metal selection, filler metal positioning, pipe purging (Argon), advanced welding techniques and welding code criteria & regulations.  Welding pipe positions include 1G (Rotated pipe), 2G (Horizontal weld), 5G (fixed position pipe) and 6G (pipe at 45-degree upright angle) welded with 308, 309 and 316 Stainless Steel. Student’s 6G position pipe position welding specimens will be mechanically tested to ASME Section 9 code standards and ASME B31.3 (Standard Pipe Construction code) VT acceptance criteria. Students will also be tested in lecture educational knowledge for fulfillment of Lab/Class hours. Upon completion of this course students will receive a certificate of proficiency for GTAW (TIG) in Stainless Steel. Students will also be able to produce excellent quality sound welds and be capable of performing work for sanitary facilities and petrochemical employment. 

 INTRO TO PIPELINE Introduction to Pipeline Welding.

This Course will cover Introduction to Pipeline (downhill) welding with SMAW in preparation for the pipe liner, mainliner, and pump-station welder/fabricator. You’ll learn the basics of Safety, Fundamentals, and Principles of the Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) welding processes to ISO standards. With this you will learn proper PPE, electrode selection, electrode positioning, advanced welding/fabrication technique and welding code criteria & regulations.  Welding pipe positions include 2G (Horizontal weld), 5G (fixed position pipe) and 6G (pipe at 45-degree upright angle) welded as Groove welds in 8”, 10” and 12” diameter pipe. Students will also get hand-on experience in laying out/prepping, fitting and welding the Branch Weld (Saddle). Both 6010 and 8010 “4.0’s-5.0’s” rods will be used on welding process. Student’s 6G position pipe position welding specimens will be mechanically tested to ASME Section 9 code standards and API 1104 (Pipeline Standard) VT acceptance criteria. Students will also be tested in lecture educational knowledge for fulfillment of Lab/Class hours. Upon completion of this course students will receive a certificate of proficiency for SMAW (Stick) in Pipeline (downhill). Students will also be able to produce good quality sound welds and be capable of performing work in midstream pipeline Sector, DOT regulated Facilities, pump-stations and tank farms and other oil field areas. 

GMAW/ FCAW PLATE  Introduction to Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)

This course will cover introduction to GMAW and FCAW on plate for the structural, tank and vessel welder. You will learn the basics of Safety, Fundamentals, and Principles of the GMAW and FCAW welding processes to ISO standards. You will learn proper PPE, fit-up & preparation of material, wire selection, welding position, welding techniques and welding code criteria and regulations. Welding positions will include 1F-1G (Flat), 2F-2G (Horizontal), 3F-3G (Vertical) and 4F-4G (Overhead) both in Fillet and Groove. Student’s welding specimens will be mechanically evaluated for qualification to ASME Section 9 code standards and AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code acceptance criteria. Students will also be evaluated in lecture educational knowledge for fulfillment of Lab/class hours. This course covers advanced techniques, safety, and education in FCAW and GMAW welding processes to ISO standards. You will learn proper PPE fit-up & preparation of material, wire selection & position, welding techniques and welding code criteria & regulations. Welding pipe positions will include: 1G (Rotated pipe), 2G (Horizontal weld), 5G (fixed position pipe) and 6G (pipe at 45-degree upright angle) welded with corresponding welding wire. Student’s 6G position pipe position welding specimens will be mechanically tested to ASME Section 9 code standards and ASME B31.3 (Standard Pipe Construction code) VT acceptance criteria. Students will also be tested in lecture educational knowledge for fulfillment of Lab/Class hours. Upon completion of this course students will receive a certificate of proficiency in FCAW and GMAW on Pipe. Students will also be capable of performing good quality sound pipe welds in big-bore piping, flare lines, duct piping, industrial plants, fabrications shop and more.
